What changed
I left Meta and gave myself a year. AI came in through the side door: I started using it to make music, where the work was real and the results were public. Somewhere in that process the tools stopped being clever and started being capable, and the limit on the work stopped being the tool. It was me, and how well I could direct it.
I've used ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini every day since, at their top tiers, to run real businesses. Today my newsletter, website and ad accounts all have AI working in them, under my direction and with my approval. I've also had these tools invent products I never made and defend mistakes with complete confidence. I know where they help and where they bite.
I wrote two books about working this way: AI, Side by Side and The Complete AI Solo Business System. Readers have bought several thousand copies. But a book can't sit beside you while you try it on your own work. That's why I started Side by Side.
